Professional Referrals

In an effort to provide a collaborative approach to helping children and adolescents who are battling emotional disturbances and developmental delays, the entire staff here at Millcreek of Magee Treatment Center works diligently with medical professionals throughout our community.

We offer our patients a wide range of mental health services including our psychiatric residential treatment facility program, our intermediate care facility program, therapeutic group homes, and therapeutic day school treatment programs. Admission into each one of our programs is typically obtained by a referral from a mental health professional or the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)

Once a psychiatric evaluation, an intelligence test, and a letter of recommendation for admission has been received, the referral source is contacted and a telephone assessment is completed regarding the child’s progress in his or her current placement. All information gathered will then be used to determine approval or denial for admission.

Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID)

Most referrals for this program come from the child’s physician, however, parents are able to contact us directly to schedule a telephone assessment for their child in order to obtain the information needed to gain approval for admission.

Therapeutic Group Homes

The evaluation process for our group homes begins when the Mississippi Department of Human Services sends in a residential application for the child. This application is then forwarded to our program directors who will determine if admission for this program is appropriate.

Therapeutic Day School Treatment Program

As soon as referral information is received and all psychiatric evaluations and/or special education documentations are sent to the principal of the day treatment site, they will be able to review all information to make a determination about admission.

At Millcreek Behavioral Health, we are always available to review all referrals for our programs. If you have patients who are in need of intensive behavioral healthcare treatment, we want to work with you so that they can get the highest quality of care available. Our physicians and multidisciplinary teams focus on providing thorough medication management and comprehensive therapeutic interventions for everyone who is entrusted into our care.
