The Program

Millcreek School offers educational programming for children with special needs. Individualized education plans address the needs of each student with consideration given to styles and rates of learning.
The school program stresses the importance of the individual and the belief that each student must be recognized as unique. A specific course of instruction is prescribed in a stimulating environment and designed to develop the whole child to his or her fullest potential intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. A specialized curriculum which is coordinated with the State Department of Education is intended to prepare students for return to a community setting.
- Students receive a minimum of five and one-half hours of instruction each day
- The school day includes individual and/or group therapy, programming provided through related services, and other therapeutic activities.
Accreditation
Millcreek School is a private school licensed as a special school by the State Department of Education.
The Staff
Certified Teachers conduct individualized instruction in self-contained classrooms. A full-time reading specialist is on staff to provide intensive, one-on-one instruction for the students. This individual provides specialized programming that the regular classroom teacher does not provide.

Screening includes puretone air conduction hearing screening and language/speech screening of articulation, voice, fluency, and language.
- Screenings are conducted upon admission and annually thereafter unless otherwise indicated.
- If indicated, or requested by the treating team, a complete diagnostic evaluation is conducted.
- Intervention procedures are implemented based on informal and formal assessment results.
