As part of our mission to encourage self-confidence and independence, Millcreek provides Home and Community Supports(HCS) to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in their family’s home. HCS affords individuals the opportunity to engage in daily activities in their homes and communities that are essential to their health, safety, and welfare, without being confined to an institutional setting. Remaining true to our belief that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities should be afforded the same opportunities in life that others have, we strive to offer as many programming options as possible to help these individuals obtain the full, happy quality of life that they deserve.
Our caring, compassionate, and highly qualified staff provides assistance in daily living skills, as well as offering support and involvement in community activities.
The daily activities that our staff teach, help with, and encourage include, but are not limited to:
- Household services
- Meal planning and preparation
- Personal hygiene
- Assisting with self-administrations of medications
Our staff also help individuals to access community resources that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Scheduling appointments
- Attending appointments
- Recreational activities
The staff who work in this program respect the individuality of each person who receives these services. The staff work diligently to help individuals increase and maintain their independence and sense of self-worth in order to promote each individual’s confidence in his or her abilities. Additionally, staff are able to help teach individuals new skills that can benefit them as they navigate through life, thus enhancing their self-esteem and independence.
At Millcreek, we are devoted to erasing the stigma that surrounds individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities by showing communities that they are no different than anyone else. We firmly believe that all individuals deserve to have the same opportunities made available to them and we are dedicated to changing the lives of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities one person at a time, one day at a time.
