The Jason Foundation

We believe awareness and education are powerful tools to prevent suicide. For this reason, Millcreek of Magee partnered with The Jason Foundation, Inc. to educate communities about the silent epidemic of youth suicide.

About the Jason Foundation

After Clark Flatt lost his son, Jason, to suicide in 1997, he was shocked to discover how common youth suicide is in the United States. In order to fight this silent epidemic, Clark formed The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI). This non-profit organization is dedicated to increasing awareness of youth suicide and to educating students, parents, teachers, coaches, and others how to identify and support young people who may be thinking about ending their own lives. Among the many steps that JFI has taken in the effort to eradicate youth suicide are the creation of a school-based curriculum and several online staff development programs, all of which are available free of charge.

Statistics: Suicide in Mississippi
